Eyelid Surgery

Smoother skin above and below the eyes, for a younger, natural look

Eye lift, also called blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, is one of the most commonly performed facial cosmetic procedures in the United States. It involves removing excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids to solve the problem of drooping eyelids or bulging fat around the eyes, or “bags.” These features can make you look older or more tired than you are, and can even interfere with your field of vision. With this surgery, our board-certified facial plastic surgeons can refresh the appearance of your eyes, while keeping natural facial expression. The result is a natural, more youthful look.

What is the eyelid surgery like?
This outpatient procedure can last anywhere between one to two hours. The surgeon will place precisely measured incisions in your natural creases to hide them. Then, your doctor will remove the excess skin and fat, if necessary, from the eyelids. Typically, this procedure is done under local anesthesia for upper eyelids. For your comfort, lower eyelid surgery is usually done under IV sedation. After the surgery, you can go home.

What is the recovery after eyelid surgery?
Recovery after eyelid procedures is relatively pain-free and quick. You can resume your normal activities within three to five days after surgery. The incisions are relatively small, and you should practice the regular wound maintenance required after any surgery. We recommend you avoid high-impact exercise and strenuous activities for several weeks after surgery to allow complete healing.
